About Woods Guest House B&B
Description
I recently spent a few nights at Woods Guest House B&B and I've gotta tell you - this place really surprised me. It's one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you've discovered something special. The guest house sits in this gorgeous wooded area that honestly made me forget I was anywhere near civilization. The minute you walk in, there's this warm, homey feeling that just washes over you - kinda like visiting your favorite aunt's house, if your aunt happened to run a super-charming B&B! What really stood out to me was how the owners have managed to strike that perfect balance between professional service and personal touch. Ya know what I mean? Like, they're attentive without hovering, helpful without being overbearing. And the rooms? They've got this lovely mix of modern comfort with traditional charm - think plush beds with crisp linens, but in rooms with character and original features that tell stories of their own.Key Features
• Individually decorated rooms with en-suite bathrooms and premium bedding • Complimentary full breakfast with both continental and hot options • Free high-speed WiFi throughout the property • Beautiful garden area perfect for morning coffee or evening relaxation • Cozy common room with a fireplace and board games • Tea and coffee making facilities in each room • Private parking for guests • Pet-friendly rooms available (just make sure to request in advance!) • Daily housekeeping service • Local area guides and maps available at receptionBest Time to Visit
From my experience, and chatting with the owners, spring and early fall are absolutely magical here. April through June sees the gardens burst into life, and the surrounding woods become this incredible canvas of colors. September and October are equally spectacular - the autumn leaves create this cozy atmosphere that's perfect for curling up with a book by the fireplace. Summer's lovely too, but it can get pretty busy, so you might wanna book well in advance. Winter has its own charm - especially around Christmas when they deck out the whole place in tasteful decorations. Plus, the rates tend to be better during the off-season months of November through March, except for holiday periods. How to Get There
Getting to Woods Guest House is actually pretty straightforward. If you're driving (which I'd recommend), you'll find it's well-connected to major highways. The nearest train station is about a 10-minute taxi ride away, and the owners are super helpful with arranging local transport if you need it. I found that using GPS works perfectly fine, but here's a pro tip: once you're in the general area, keep an eye out for their distinctive wooden sign - it's easy to miss if you're relying solely on your navigation system. The driveway is well-marked once you spot that first sign, and there's plenty of parking when you arrive.Tips for Visiting
Listen, I learned a few things during my stay that I wish I'd known beforehand. First off, definitely take advantage of breakfast - the home-baked bread is to die for, and they're really accommodating with dietary requirements if you give them a heads up. Book directly through their website if you can - sometimes they have special offers that aren't available on other booking sites. If you're planning to explore the area (which you absolutely should), ask the owners for recommendations. They turned me onto this amazing local pub that wasn't on any tourist maps! The rooms on the back side of the house have the best views of the woods, so request one of those if possible. And if you're a light sleeper like me, the rooms in the original part of the house are super quiet. Oh, and don't forget to bring walking shoes - there are some gorgeous trails right from the doorstep that you won't want to miss. I made that mistake and had to buy some locally! Also, while they do have great WiFi, cell service can be a bit spotty in some areas - just something to keep in mind if you need to stay connected. Remember to sign the guest book - it's fun to read through others' experiences, and it's become a bit of a tradition. Trust me, once you stay here, you'll understand why so many guests come back year after year. I'm already planning my next visit!Description
