Best Time to Visit

I’ve gotta say, June through August and December through February are your golden windows for visiting Entusi. The weather’s just perfect then – warm days, cool nights, and minimal rainfall. But here’s a little insider tip: if you’re cool with the occasional shower (which honestly adds to the magical misty vibe), March to May or September to November can be absolutely gorgeous too, plus you’ll find better rates and fewer crowds.

December’s particularly special – the holiday atmosphere combined with perfect weather makes it one of my favorite times to visit. Just remember to book well ahead during peak seasons, especially if you’re eyeing one of those sweet lakefront cottages.

How to Get There

Getting to Entusi is part of the adventure! The most common route is flying into Entebbe International Airport and then taking a domestic flight to Kisoro or Kabale. From there, it’s about a 1-hour drive to the resort. But honestly? I loved the road trip option – you can hire a car or arrange a transfer from Kampala, which takes about 6-7 hours through some seriously beautiful countryside.

The resort can arrange airport pickups or help coordinate your transportation. And just fyi, the last bit of road getting to the resort is a bit bumpy, but that’s part of the charm (and totally worth it for what awaits you).

Tips for Visiting

Alright, let me share some real talk from my experience. First up, pack layers! The lake climate can be unpredictable – mornings and evenings can get pretty chilly even when days are warm. Bring some good walking shoes ’cause you’re gonna want to explore those gorgeous trails.

Book your activities in advance, especially during peak season. The sunset boat rides are incredible – don’t miss those! If you’re into photography, sunrise is pure magic here. The light on the lake is something else.

Cash is king in the surrounding areas, so make sure you bring enough Ugandan Shillings. While the resort accepts cards, many local experiences and vendors don’t. Oh, and definitely try the local coffee – it’s amazing!

And here’s something not many people know: request a room in the upper cottages if you want the best views, but the lower ones are perfect if you want easy access to the lake. The staff are super helpful with special requests – don’t be shy about asking for what you need.
