Lens 14-18 – Great War Museum In Northern France
At the foot of Lorette Hill in Souchez, amidst the former battlefields, stands the unique architectural marvel of the Lens 14-18 – Great War Museum. Designed by Pierre-Louis Faloci, the building, crafted from black concrete and glass, houses the History Center of the Memorial’ 14-18. Inside, visitors are transported back in time through iconic artifacts, high-quality unseen photographs, period films, and animated maps, offering a profound understanding of the scale of the conflict in Nord Pas-de-Calais during World War I. Over 300 large-format photographs, both official and anonymously captured by soldiers, vividly depict the harsh reality of this devastating war. This historical treasure trove has been curated by an international scientific committee led by historian Yves Le Maner.
